In a period where the abuse of the words green and eco-sustainability seems to lose contact with what is more rooted in these key concepts to protect the environment, Cascine Aperte draws attention to the true rural heritage of the city. There is often talk of returning to the origins, of commingling between the city and the surrounding greenery, so many are the attempts to breathe all of us and make us reunite with the more rural spirit to which we all belong. Cascine Aperte has been doing this for over 5 years. The protagonists of the event are the farms of Milan, public and private, run by associations and cooperatives for the development of social and cultural projects, and branches of farms belonging to the DAM – District Agricultural Milanese who are dedicated to agriculture, transformation and breeding.
Two days to breathe, to know by bike or on foot paths that are not just the one that takes you to work. All in the urban perimeter of the city of Milan. Thirty farmhouses will open the doors to an ageless public with meetings and workshops, shows and exhibitions, rides and bike rides, lunches and dinners. Take a day, even two, to discover routes in the green also because other protagonist of Cascine Aperte is the green city. Periurban parks located on the border of Milan, are inextricably linked to the Cascine that are often found to be the bridge between city and countryside. The Cascine Aperte program dedicates to them the section Moving !: routes on foot or by bicycle that can connect farmhouses in the different areas of Milan. Have you ever heard of Vettabbia, Ticinello, Risaie, Trenno, Lambro, Forlanini, Bruzzano?
An initiative that wants to be not only a moment of socialization but also a system of multi-purpose places where to experiment a more sustainable model of urban sociality. The goal is to open the way and show how new possibilities of redemption, even in the suburbs and peri-urban areas, is possible.
