An exhibition of prizewinning works in the 53rd edition of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, promoted by the Natural History Museum in London, will open in Milan on Sunday 5 October.


The 100 best photos selected from over 50,000 entries by professional photographers and amateurs from 92 countries provide stunning views of Nature, judged by a panel of international experts for creativity, artistic value and technical complexity in 16 categories.


This edition of the prestigious contest is especially themed on safeguarding out planet, its landscapes, botanical and animal diversity.


The overall winner is South African Brent Stirton, with his moving shot of a rhinoceros, killed and mutilated to steal its horn, in the Hluhluwe Imfolozi national park. The photo, of great emotional impact and artistic profile, documents with extreme cruelty the drama of poaching.


The organisers of the exhibition, the Radicediunopercento cultural association, will also offer a programme of free presentations and workshops with coaching by expert photographers. The programme of these events in available on the Radicediunopercento website.


The exhibition, in the Fondazone Lucia Matalon in Foro Buonaparte 67, will remain open until 9 December daily from 10.00 to 19.00 and Fridays until 22.00. Entrance €9, with reductions for several categories. Catalogues available in the bookshop.
